Weblust: MacUser



MacUser When I left A+, it was to take the job of Editor-inchief of MacUser which was a semi-hostile takeover. Ziff-Davis had just bought out Felix Dennis & Co. who founded MacUser, and I had the job of taking it over after the aquisition. It was sort of like the Mighty Ducks, where we took the rag-tag team from way behind MacWorld to ahead of them after 18 months. But then ZD abruptly moved me to PC Magazine. Soon after I left the earthquake of '89 killed my best friend on the MacUser staff, John Anderson, moments after he met with another friend Marc Canter, founder of Macromedia. John was a programming genius as well as brilliant writer and editor, and had met with Marc to work on a "polymedia" database CD-ROM/online project John and I had created. What a tragic loss...
